My Story
My husband and I live in Sherwood Park, Alberta, we have two children, a dog, and two cats. I enjoy family time, camping, visiting with friends, and riding horses. I am an everyday mom, like you, who keeps up with the kids, laundry and housework the best I can. More often than not, my hair takes the back burner and can be found in a 'top knot', hence the name.

I began working as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 2011 as I always had a passion for helping people. I worked in long term care, rural hospital, and currently hold a position in Neurosurgery.

During my second maternity leave the opportunity presented itself to take a course through Healthy Children Center for Breastfeeding, based in the US, this course had never been in Canada before!
I completed an examination by the Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice (ALPP) and received confirmation of successful completion in June 2017.

My aspiration is to become and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
My Philosophy
I follow the same philosophy as "Healthy Children Project's Center for Breastfeeding" in my approach being to observe, explore, and coach.

At Top Knot Nursing Lactation Counselling we aspire to be Top NOTCH lactation counsellors. Lactation and breastfeeding is such a special and necessary task and we are glad to be able to assist women in meeting their breastfeeding goals, whatever those goals may be.
I have always had a passion for pregnancy, birth, and bringing up baby. I understand that breastfeeding is natural however not instinctive. I want women to understand that breastfeeding is a learned skill that with the proper instruction can become natural. I am excited to offer this in the comfort of my clients homes since that is where they are the most at ease.
